ABOUT THE EXPERIENCES
Lakes Okareka and Tikitapu - Two lakes part of a caldera that funnels into Lake Tarawera. Both popular for their calm waters and stunning beaches. Lake Okareka is fringed with a DOC campsite, plus residential properties and lush native bush. Tikitapu is also known as the Blue Lake, situated beside Rotokakahi (Green Lake) which is a lake reserved for tribal use only. We will see Rotokakahi on the hike, but will paddle Tikitapu which is open to public.

Kerosene Creek - a creek situated in a natural running hot stream on the outskirts of Rotorua. Its free to public, and the main swimming area is fed by a gorgeous hot waterfall.

Mokoia Island - We are transported by Katoa Jets, a local operator with exclusive permission to land on the island. Another tribal area, we will be accompanied by Tireni Ratema who will guide us on the island to learn about the historic stories and current day activities.

Rotoiti/Manupirua Hot Springs - Accessible by water only. We have local permission to enter Lake Rotoiti from an exclusive location with a perfect paddling distance to the pools. We will receive some background information of the area from our hosts before we get to soothe our bodies in the healing waters of the pools.

IMPORTANT - Participants MUST be confident paddling on flat water. If you are a beginner or have little experience, we cannot have you on the excursion. Take a lesson and gain some experience before booking a spot. We have lessons available, and board hire options. If you are unsure of your competency, book a time with us free of charge to assess you. If our instructors are not confident in your abilities on the day, you may be asked to sit out of the paddling activities. The areas we paddle can be challenging, and we will not provide one-on-one assistance unless an emergency occurs. Do not book this experience if you are a beginner or have had little experience. There will be no refund if you are found to be not confident on the day.
